Plot development purpose

No character development, so I don't really care about her that much, so if she avows to revenge her sister, I'm thinking that's nice but so what? She and Finn were running around the universe doing stuff but never really advanced the plot line. Then she delivers the hack line "That's how we're gonna win, not fighting what we hate, but saving what we love." I know, it's hard to develop character in an action film like this, but Guardians of the Galaxy managed to do it quite well. This movie was borderline hot mess, mostly a CGI fest.
